The “national fate”.

Today is Bastille Day (commemorating the Storming of the Bastille on 14th July 1789) which is the English name to what in France is generally known as “le 14 juillet” and formally, “la Fête nationale”. I hope our many French readers will forgive us for the deliberate interposing of the phonetic and the literal by mistranslating “la Fête nationale” into “the national fate” – but it being the 14th July, it was too good an opportunity to miss.
Yesterday, the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill began it’s parliamentary process.

What was worrying was the pitiful standard of the reporting of the event and more worrying still the ignorant “yah-booing” of the politicians!
These idiots seem to have no idea of what is really going on. Some may wish to use a modern phrase, “they’ve lost the plot”. For most of them that is not correct for it implies they had the plot and then lost it. However, it appears that these idiots were never in possession of the plot in the first place!
Again it falls to the erudite and learned Doctor Richard North to accurately describe what took place yesterday.

By contrast to Doctor North’s unrelenting pessimism, the British Gazette has repeatedly opined that those in the know within what is known to be the Europhile political establishment – that stretches beyond parliament and into the judiciary, the civil service, the military and industry – are in fact trying to subvert the will of the British People that was expressed on Thursday 23rd June 2016.
To survive the political outfall of this subversion the elite have either to abort Brexit BEFORE Friday 29th March 2019 or ensure a working transitional arrangement is in place by then – which as Doctor North authoritatively opines, is going to be a very great challenge in and of itself.
Their problem of course is that IF they opt for the latter their options are limited. There are in fact four:
1. Adopt the transitional arrangement whilst negotiating the so-called “comprehensive free trade agreement” with the EU – which will not be as economically beneficial as the transition period.
2. Seek re-entry into the EU which will require entry into the Eurozone. Which of course will require more and continuing austerity.
3. Adopt the transitional arrangement whilst negotiating with EFTA and the EU to adopt FLEXCIT aka “the Norway Option”.
4. Continue with transitional arrangement for as long as the EU allows and then face a “Hard Brexit.”
There are NO prizes for guessing which of the above most members of UKIP would vote for!
Let us face FACTS: There are NO easy options!
