Today’s title is a play on the term; “the bank of Mum and Dad” !!!
A number of years ago I watched an addition of BBC2’s “Newsnight” – in an era where the WET (Woke Enforcement Team) had not gained the dominance it now has. This was in the days of Jeremy Paxton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Paxman). Mr Paxman invited the BBC licence payer to view an experiment they had carried out with some of the money raised by TV licence – AKA TVT (TV Tax).
BBC staff went to a car auction and purchased two “old bangers”. Now at this point I have to explain to our outraged US readers that this term is neither obscene or pornographic! “Old banger” is a term used in the UK to describe an old car that is worth very little and who’s next owner could well be the car breaker!
The two cars purchased at the car auction were one white hatchback and one dark blue hatchback. The blue hatchback was in a solid dark blue and not a metallic. This was important. The BBC staff had a small time car respray chap paint a white St. Andrew’s Cross on the bonnet (hood), the roof and the boot lid (trunk lid). They then parked the car in a “rough” area of an English city.
The white car had similar treatment with the red St. George’s Cross on the bonnet (hood), the roof and the boot lid (trunk lid). They then parked the car in a “rough” area of Glasgow.
The BBC then emplaced two hidden video cameras to observe what happened to the two cars. Within a day the white car had been utterly vandalised with youths (male) jumping on the car’s roof. During this period NO damage was caused to the blue car in the “rough” area of the English city.
It seems that the Unfortunate Mr John Swinney is again raising the prospect of an independence referendum on Scottish independence (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/scotland).
Oh Dear!
Does the Unfortunate Mr John Swinney NOT realise that Scotland is financially supported by the UK taxpayer?
IF Scotland were to become independent she would have to find another financier!
The EU would NOT be as generous as the UK!
Despite Mr Trump’s affection for Scotland, I do not think that the Unfortunate Mr John Swinney would wish to become the 51st state of the USA!
