On the move: Towards the centre! Of Europe!

Today’s Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/apr/23/macron-set-to-face-le-pen-after-first-round-of-french-presidential-election?utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=GU+Today+main+NEW+H+categories&utm_term=222897&subid=15907465&CMP=EMCNEWEML6619I2) reports that the independent centrist Emmanuel Macron and his En Marche! (On the Move!) movement with 23.75% has topped the first round of the French presidential election and will face Marine Le Pen (21.53%) in the run-off.
As expected, other EU politicians along with the currency and stock markets have welcomed this. For example: https://www.mail.com/int/news/europe/5138400-latest-german-foreign-minister-joins-cheers-macron.html#.1272-stage-hero1-1
British Gazette comment:
One of the FACTS of being human is the instinct to combine resources to face a threat. It is of course for this reason that the incredibly dangerous tiger is on the endangered species list and that we humans are not having to cope with too few of us on the planet but too many.
Therefore we should not be surprised at the Europhile reaction to perceived threats. In the same vein, Brexiteers should not be surprised by Jean Monet’s representative on Earth, Tony E.U. Blair who is calling on voters not to vote Labour but rather to vote Lib-Dem or for a Tory Europhile such as Sarah Wollaston, the Member for Totnes.
For the Guardian’s report on this, GOTO: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/apr/23/tony-blair-vote-tory-or-lib-dem-where-they-are-open-minded-on-brexit
This is of course why this organ in it’s article of the 19th (http://www.british-gazette.co.uk/2017/04/19/whato-voters-its-bullshit-time-again/) advised voters to consider voting Labour in a Tory-Labour marginal and Tory in a Tory-Lib Dem marginal, such as St. Ives and the Isles of Scilly!
Your Editor is already in receipt of intelligence that the Lib-Dems are already are in negotiations with the Greens and Labour to have the former MP, Andrew George a clear run at Tory Derek Thomas. Happily for Brexiteers, the Remainiacs biggest obstacle to getting Mr George returned to Westminster lies in the person of Cornelius Olivier, Labour’s candidate. The chances of the Remainiacs persuading Mr Olivier not to stand are no more than the chances of those who would attempt to persuade Comrade Corbyn to abandon his socialism and become a Tory!
It is a curious twist of the fates provided by the electoral system our American friends call “the two party system” that Mr Thomas’s wish to continue being MP for St. Ives and the Isles of Scilly is in the gift of Mr Olivier!
Some of my long dead Cornish ancestors may not like this but Mebyon Kernow can be ignored.
IF as this organ expects, Mr Olivier is Labour’s candidate in the constituency, we suggest that should he retain his seat he should pay (out of his own resources and not his party’) for a nice box of chocolates and a nice bunch of flowers to be delivered to Mrs Olivier! As a commiseration present!
Of course, these antics only serve to underline the need for electoral reform in the UK!
