Not a wise move…….

Our esteemed Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Andrew Burnham, the Member for Makerfield – who wants to be known to all as “Andy” – has stated that he “open” to calls for an apology for slavery but not reparations (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5398239je88o).

Oh Dear! Mr Burnham should have a word with The Rt Hon Ellie Reeves KC, the Member for Lewisham West and East Dulwich. You see, a lawyer will always counsel their client about the inadvisability of apologising as it can be interpreted as an admission of liability!

However, the BG offers “Andy” a solution!

I suggest a charitable company be set up by an Act of the UK Parliament with a board of twelve directors – who should be selected by certain non profit bodies. This charitable corporation would receive monies donated by members of the British Public and British organisations who voluntarily put their hands in their literal and metaphorical pockets!

What should NOT happen is that UK taxpayers money be directed to certain persons and/or organisations representing a group of persons defined by ethnicity and/or a distinct heritage!

The only people who would – secretly – support this would be those on the “far right” who seek actively exacerbate race relations in the UK.
