The mainstream media is much criticised. This is because, like the office of Prime Minster of the United Kingdom, it has great power. One cultural product that had an effect on me – in terms of my attitude as a child towards police officers was the TV crime series “Dixon of Dock Green” starring the veteran actor Jack Warner. For those too young to remember, herewith a link:

Prime Ministers (of the UK) tend to become remembered by certain images. For Harold Wilson these included his pipe and his Gannex raincoat. They are also remembered for things that mark the start of their decline, that can be long delayed. For Harold Wilson it was that famous line, “………this will not effect the pound in your pocket………”
It is now very well known not only by the closed coterie of political journalists but by the wider General Public, that our dearly beloved Prime Minister has a penchant and fondness for dressing up! Wearing a high vis jacket and being filmed glad handing with the proletariat is one thing – BUT the PM’s latest antic yesterday being filmed in police uniform in a drugs raid on Merseyside will in retrospect – I think – MIGHT be seen as the beginning of his end.
When politicians make these errors it is because their egos have risen so much they loose perspective and a sense of proportion and begin to make gaffes. For Margaret Thatcher it was her famous, “……….we are a grandmother……….” gaffe.
For acting PC Johnson his end appears to be marked out for him. It will end when the seemingly lunatic policy being pursued by HMG crashes onto the rocks of power cuts brought about by the failure of wind turbines and solar farms to provide the electricity the British People rely upon.
This is because HMG appears to be following the Micawber Strategy.
Wilkins Micawber is a clerk in Charles Dickens’s 1850 novel David Copperfield. He is traditionally identified with the optimistic belief that “something will turn up.” The Micawber Strategy is just that: a belief in and relying on same that “something will turn up.”
I have for some time being of the opinion that HMG (encouraged and egged on by HMLO) was pursuing ONE of TWO strategies:
Strategy #1: That HMG was following the Micawber Strategy based on mere hope and with no clue as to what and when the technology would arrive to get them out of the hole they had dug for themselves and the British People.
Strategy #2: That HMG was following the Micawber Strategy based on actual fore knowledge of what and when the technology would arrive to get them out of the hole they had dug for themselves and the British People.
In other words Strategy #1 was what I do when I make a share purchase – I hope that the share price will go up. Strategy #2 is something – in relation to the stock market – I do NOT do as it is illegal! It is called “Insider Dealing”.
In his blog-post today (https://www.turbulenttimes.co.uk/news/front-page/energy-pointing-the-finger/), Doctor North presents a case that appears to indicate that acting PC Johnson and his coterie are following Strategy #1! That there is NO currently hidden advanced technology coming to our salvation. The evidence that Doctor North presents to support this hypothesis is the news that the Japanese government are now building coal fired power stations to replace their nuclear fleet of base load power supply.
IF this is the case – and as I have stated, it now appears to be the case – we are being governed by a set of preening egotists who have lost touch with reality!
Simply put: IF anthropogenic global warming (AGW) was real and the fears of Extinction Rebellion and Insulate Britain were founded on FACT, then the Japanese and other governments would not be pursing that which Doctor North has cited!
In our blog-post of the 4th (https://british-gazette.com/if-it-were-done-when-tis-done-then-twere-well-it-were-done-quickly/) we speculate upon the Damascene conversion of the Labour Party re AGW and fall into line adopting the common sense approach to electricity generation and road transport long advocated by Piers Corbyn (http://www.weatheraction.com/).
Since my teenage years I have supported the policy of electoral reform. One of the policies of the Liberal Democrats I have long agreed with is the replacement of the grossly unfair “First Past the Post” electoral system with the “Single Transferable Vote” electoral system.
HOWEVER: The grossly unfair “First Past the Post” electoral system has ONE advantage which It appears to be one that we should now rely on. It is this: That in the circumstances of a government being so overwhelming unpopular – to a degree we have not seen in recent times (1997 Labour Landslide included) – the voters have the ability to throw the lot of them out!
The last time anything EVEN APPROACHING what MIGHT happen was on Thursday 5th July 1945 when Labour was swept to victory with an overwhelming 393 majority.

You will Dear Reader cannot fail to have noticed the capitalisation of the words, “even approaching.” This because of the danger of a cascade failure on the National Grid. This could mean power cuts across wide areas of the UK for around a fortnight. The very grave danger surrounds the possibility of a prolonged outage covering the Greater London Area. Were this to happen it would pose a huge challenge to the authorities and tragically the possibility of large scale and severe public civil unrest and violent disorder taking place would be likely in certain parts of the Greater London area. This because such a prolonged outage would most severely affect those on lower incomes who could not afford and did not have access to a domestic stand-by diesel or propane gen-set.
That a state of emergency would be declared in such circumstances will be a racing certainty. In fact, I do not rule out the possibility of the imposition of martial law in certain tightly defined areas. Such martial law could ONLY be done in a small number of locations as the size of the British Army – even with all reservists and Territorials called up - is not that large and in such cases it is literally a case of boots on the ground and not expensive high tech weaponry that counts.
Because of the limited level of deployment the troops would be deployed mainly in a defensive role – that is to say defending areas such as Weybridge and not aggressively trying to suppress disorder in areas such as Catford.
Upon the restoration of some semblance of public order the collapse of whatever government was in power at the time is axiomatic. A General Election would be called.
In the period between the onset of the disorder following the outage and the writ to call the election there would be a revolution and transformation of political thought on the whole issue anthropogenic global warming (AGW) and “climate change”. Expect the new government to sweep away in one grand legislative act all the climate change legislation previously enacted.
Here will be irony at work in it’s fullest, richest and truest forms! This because the sort of politician that has been cited as the sort we do not need – the young Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) being or the right gender (female), right ethnicity (not white) and of the right sexual orientation (not heterosexual) to whom politics is merely a good career choice and to whom call be applied the late great Groucho Marx’s witty remark being “Those are my principles, and if you don’t like them… well, I have others.”
This because they will have one qualification of over-ridding importance: They will reflect diversity!
You see, these New Labour apparatchiks will be easily persuaded to ditch completely all the “green” beliefs they had held previously. Of course these unprincipled careerists will need to point the accusatory finger of blame and thus will cast around for suitable scapegoats!
A Royal Commission will doubtless be set up headed by a suitably opinionated judge to find the culprits responsible for the disaster! Bear in mind Dear Reader that HRH the Prince of Wales was a prominent cheerleader for cutting CO2. This will mean that the advisers of the Prince will be investigated. It will likely be the case that a number of “bad actors” will be discovered who will have given advice that will be deemed verging on or actually the mendacious. Accusations relating to cover ups and conspiracy theories will abound. Worst of all there is the prospect of retrospective legislation!
If ever there was a classic example of an instrument of tyranny and despotism, it is retrospective legislation! To make criminal actions which when committed at the time were perfectly legal! Legislating in this manner is a clear breach of the European Convention of Human Rights and the legislation will specifically derogate from this.
It will not just be the Labour Party which experiences a Damascene conversion – so too will the BBC!
With all the self righteous pomposity they can muster – which is an awful lot! – these journalists will sombrely relate the whole sorry tale of the greatest and most monumental deception ever practised across a population for so long and on such a large scale.
There is an old proverb: Success has many fathers. Failure is an orphan!
The reason for my doom and gloom is that a cascade failure in the present circumstances pertaining to the current infrastructure of the UK cannot be restored quickly. There will be a prolonged period of rolling power cuts and shortages. Expect full scale rationing along the lines of what only the oldest citizens can remember – during the 1940s.
