Boris Johnson > The problem with promising the Earth: Delivering it!!!!!!!!!!!

As British Gazette Readers may have already seen via their TVs, Boris Johnson is urging Cameron to promise to renegotiate with the EU and obtain some control over the UK’s borders insofar as EU immigration is concerned.
All concerned know that this proposal has as much chance of success as resuscitating the dead parrot of Monty Python fame.
But then Messrs. Cameron & Johnson have a couple of fine European luminaries for inspiration:
Napoleon Bonaparte who famously stated: “If you wish to be a success in the world, promise everything, deliver nothing.”
And of course, Niccolo Machiavelli who famously stated: “A prince never lacks legitimate reasons to break his promise.”

The British Gazette would suggest that Messrs. Cameron and Johnson follow the advice of Mervyn Edward “Merv” Griffin, Jr. US television host, musician, actor, and media mogul: “If you make the customer a promise… make sure you deliver it.”
