Strange bedfellows: My enemy’s enemy is my friend!

Above, a curious trio of three “beauties”!

In one of my emails downloaded this morning, Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE, Clinical Director at Patient Access informs me that today, 8th March marks International Women’s Day. She need not have bothered as when I opened the internet browser the default page which is Google proclaimed this.

On the more serious topic of the situation in Ukraine and the recent discussions of western leaders with Mr Biden à propos of addressing Russia’s principal export and revenue source – hydrocarbons – we understand that he is going to make friendly overtures to to two gentlemen in particular. One of these is a certain Nicolás Maduro , President of Venezuela, who BG readers will know does not see “eye to eye” with Mr Biden and most other US politicians! The other gentleman is a certain Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud who is clearly a very busy fellow being Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia , it’s First Deputy Prime Minister, it’s Minister of Defence.

Now for most of us, these jobs would present us with an enormous workload and we might think that this was enough work for one man. But then that would be to seriously underestimate the enormous stamina and appetite for sheer hard work of Crown Prince Mohammed! This because this workaholic is also Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs and were that not enough this most attentive and diligent of hard workers has undertaken the role of Chairman of the Council of Political and Security Affairs as well!

So, what is Mr Biden’s objective in wishing to meet these fine gentlemen?

It is to prevail upon their well known generous good natures and ask them to significantly increase their nation’s oil and gas production!

This because Mr Biden wishes to be able to encourage his allies to cease buying these products from Russia!

Both gentlemen will doubtless be delighted to receive Mr Biden at their respective palaces and Mr Biden will be assured of a most generous and friendly welcome from these two delightful fellows!

Of course, Mr Biden’s Secretary of State Mr Antony Blinken will have to negotiate with Crown Prince Mohammed’s Personal Assistant as the Crown Prince’s diary will be very very crowded due to his workload! But we are sure that this most diligent and industrious of fellows will be able to find time for Mr Biden!

Leaving sarcasm aside, a clearly the Unfortunate Biden is going to have to go “cap in hand” to both men and undertake to accept various things that he previously would not have wanted to accept! Should the Unfortunate Biden make these concessions, then doubtless the oil and gas supplies from Venezuela and Saudi Arabia will be increased!

Of course, to the voters in the USA, seeing their President go “cap in hand” to Messrs Maduro & bin Salman – in order to help Germany and France – will be just too much for many who would probably describe themselves as “proud and patriotic Americans” and the Unfortunate Biden will find his poll ratings sink lower than they already are!

The Unfortunate Biden can at least content himself that his fate (a comfortable retirement as a former POTUS) is at least better that the one that appears to be opening up for the extremely Unfortunate Putin!

Dubbed “Vlad the Invader” by the popular Western press, the now extremely Unfortunate Putin will doubtless be hoping (and presumably praying – as he describes himself as a Christian) that his fate in retirement will be at least better than those most unfortunate persons who annoyed Vlad the Impaler!

Today’s blog-post from Doctor North indicates things (for Russia) may not be going as well as President Putin had hoped!

Today’s image then is of a curious trio of contestants in a beauty pageant for in the centre keeping the two rulers apart is a real beauty Queen, Miss Toni-Ann Singh.

The delightful Miss Singh is a Jamaican singer and beauty queen who won Miss World 2019 beauty pageant. She was previously crowned Miss Jamaica World 2019 and is the fourth woman from Jamaica to win Miss World and due to COVID-19, is the longest reigning Miss World in the history of the pageant. She is due to crown her successor on the 16th March 2022 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Originally scheduled to be held on December 16, 2021, the pageant was rescheduled due to the pandemic.

Well, it is International Women’s Day after all!
