When a well known person dies unexpectedly – especially one in the prime of life such as Mr Jason Arday – the popular press feel compelled to comment on it. That is understandable as their readership demands this.
However: In cases such as the late Mr Arday, it is important to follow the established procedure. Mr Arday’s death will result in a coroner’s inquest. That decision has nothing to do with who Mr Arday was or any of the controversy surrounding his employment. It has everything to do with the law. Therefore the correct and proper thing to do in these sad circumstances is to await the conclusion of the coroner’s inquest which may well take some time.
What the BG will do is to re-publish the following reports:
The Metropolitan police said officers were called to [Mr] Arday’s address by the London ambulance service after 3pm on Friday.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “A 41-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.”
“At this time his death is being treated as unexpected, but is not believed to be suspicious. The case is being investigated by officers from the Met’s central south command unit. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The body was believed to be that of [Mr] Arday. At this stage, police are understood not to believe anyone else was involved in the death.
