Net Zero stupid!

Above, the late Mandy Rice Davies and insert, James Carville.

A mere five days ago in the blog-post (https://british-gazette.com/history-repeating-itself-3/) of Wednesday 12th October I raised the possibility of the King calling a general election and refusing to accept the resignation of Mrs O’Leary.

This was in the light of a hypothetical use of a nuclear weapon by President Putin.

It is said that a week is a long time in politics!

Well, it is only five days since the aforementioned blog-post and the situation (in terms of British domestic politics) has moved on: We now have a new Chancellor of the Exchequer and a Prime Minister who clearly is now in office but no longer in power!

Then we have the Official Opposition dancing in the aisles, giddy with joy at their enormous poll lead over the Tories.

Well let us cut to the chase and FACE FACTS!

It was the US political consultant James Carville who coined the phase “The economy, stupid”! – that was used in the USA’s 1992 presidential campaign.

Thus today’s title is, “Net Zero stupid”! This because it is this lunatic policy that is the root cause not only of the UK’s problems but of the EU’s! The UK’s position is of course made worse by the decision of Sir Ed Davy in the Tory/Lib-Dem coalition to cut the UK’s gas storage facility!

Labour have seized on the charge that “the Tories have crashed the economy”. They are sort of correct. They would be nearer the mark if they said that “the Tories were in the process of crashing the economy”. They would be on the ball if they said that “the pursuit of Net Zero is crashing the economy”.

But then to paraphrase the late Mandy Rice-Davies: “They wouldn’t say that would they”!

The problem the UK (and by extension everybody living therein) has is that the “green issue” and the ridiculous requirement to reduce CO2 emissions has become so embedded in the political mainstream that those such as “Yours Truly” are regarded as extremists receiving condemnation as “climate change deniers”!

The political parties that have a realistic common sense policy on the climate change issue are Reform and UKIP.

Five days ago we speculated (on the assumption of a nuclear attack on Ukraine) that the King would break the established convention and call a general election were Mrs O’Leary to resign.

Were the King to do so this would be the most dramatic intervention into UK politics by a reigning monarch since the Bedchamber crisis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedchamber_crisis) of May 1839 in the early part of Queen Victoria’s reign.

Were the King to take such (for him) a dangerous step in one sense it would help move the country towards an eventual resolution of the “climate change issue”!

This because mainstream politics in the UK is in the same parlous position as an alcoholic!

A member of my family is an alcoholic. A deceased member of my family was an addictive gambler. Sadly, I can advise you Dear Reader that it is only when the addict reaches “rock bottom” that they can being the long hard climb about from the nadir of addiction.

Sadly, ending the UK’s lunatic pursuit of Net Zero will not begin until the idiots running the country have well and truly crashed the economy. Thus, were Mrs O’Leary to resign as Prime Minster before the end of the month and a new leader of the Tory Party was to be “acclaimed” and were Mrs O’Leary’s resignation be refused and the appointment of her intended replacement not made with the King calling a general election instead and Labour were to sweep into office with a landslide of unprecedented proportions causing the SNP (assuming their results are more or less repeated) to he His Majesty’s Official Opposition Labour would well and truly “own the moment” to quote Mr Sunak! Clearly the Tories would be very unlikely to come back in any numbers in let us say 2027 and thus Labour would be in government in 2030.

It is only when the Green Chickens have come home to roost and the UK’s economy is broken as a result that such will be the chaos that UKIP and the Tories (if they have adopted the position of so called “climate change denial”) have a realistic prospect of getting back into power.

You see, there is NO point in getting back into power merely to implement the lunatic policies of Net Zero!
