Don’t panic!

The above YouTube video is well worth watching. It was produced by a Mr Jordan Wright, a journalist who covers spaceflight, space policy and space science on his YouTube channel, “The Angry Astronaut.” Why Mr Wright likes to describe himself as the Angry Astronaut is something only he knows. He certainly does not present his videos in such a state.

The subject of this video is of the possibility of the Earth being struck by meteorites in the next few decades – including the decade we are in!

I left this comment in the gentleman’s comments section:

That NASA are not issuing any press releases about it and the mainstream media are not writing about it is an indication that they could be taking it very seriously indeed. Governments do not want to start panic. Panic causes pandemonium and panic buying causing problems for those who are the least mobile, most vulnerable and the poorest.

I would suggest that those authorities from those nations with the capability are tracking these heavenly bodies and working on plans to prevent them from causing mayhem.

It might even give the military a chance to actually let off a really really big nuke! If so, it will be a form of turning a sword into a ploughshare.

Comment about this comment: I do not think there is any need to be overly concerned about this. The meteorites appear to be of the size that the military across the globe can effectively deal with. On this they will co-operate. It is in everybody’s interest to do so.
