Bullshit.

Today’s title is short and to the point we think!
The piece of bovine faeces in question can be accessed here: https://iea.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/PLAN-A-FINAL.pdf
It is Dimwit Davis’s Plan A+.
Rather than expend energy on describing this nonsense, we will consider the possible whys and wherefores surrounding it’s publication.
Before we do, let us remind ourselves that as M Barnier reminds us, “the clock is ticking” and that “B” Day is a mere 186 days away!
That is insufficient time to conclude a FREE TRADE DEAL!
Thus, at this late, late stage in the Brexit proceedings one has to think in terms of deliberate planned deception.
We put forward the following hypothesis:
That Plan A+ is NOT a serious proposal but a charade.
That “the plan” is in fact to have others (back bench Labour MPs, SNP MPs and Lib-Dem MPs plus Remainer Tory MPs vote for a second referendum and the public reverse their decision of Midsummers Day 2016.
Central to “the plan” is that the Tory government must have been seen to have made the best attempt to get a good deal and it was the Labour Party, the Lib-Dems and those awful SNP members who saw off Brexit.
We made mention of the fact that the clock is ticking and of the 186 days to B Day.
It is far more likely that the figure that is prominent in the mind of Madame Mayhem is Central to “the plan” is 1,319 days or 3 years, 7 months, 11 days as those are the days away from the next general election in the United Kingdom which is scheduled to be held on Thursday 5th May 2022 under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011.
IF Madame can avoid being forced into the choices outlined in our article of the 23rd (http://www.british-gazette.co.uk/2018/09/23/brexit-on-course-to-the-slaughterhouse/), then she may be gambling on the hope that 3 years, 7 months and 11 days is long enough in British politics for the voters to forget the Brexit shambles.
Ironically, it would be better for Madame if the Brexiteer Tories were to do in part what Douglas Carswell and Mark Reckless did and join UKIP. We say in part as these folk would be foolish to fight by elections! Whilst this would cause Madame to be in charge (we use that word cautiously) of a minority government – she would be kept in power on a confidence and supply basis by UKIP and the DUP – politically she would actually be stronger as in British politics a Prime Minister’s strength is determined by two factors:
#1: the majority (or lack of) he/she has at their command.
#2: the level of party unity.
You see, the British public (and by that we mean ordinary people and NOT political activists) judge a PM on their strength or leadership. They MUST be seen as being in control of their troops. This was what destroyed John Major and is what will destroy Madame is the Tories are still fighting like ferrets (not cats – Sir Vince) in a sack.
Of the two factors #2 is in the British public’s opinion far more important!
I have personal experience of this. A long time ago now I stood as a candidate in the local elections in my home city of Leeds. I was then a member of the continuing SDP aka “David Owen’s SDP”. One day I was out doing some canvassing – knocking on doors and introducing myself as the party’s candidate. I knocked on one door and a lady opened it. I introduced myself and the lady asked, “What is David Owen’s view on Israel.”
I began to answer, “My view is….”
I was not allowed to finish. The lady said, “I didn’t ask for your view! I asked for your leader’s view!” she then slammed the door on me.
Whilst it is a FACT that members of political parties give of their time and efforts voluntarily and are people with generally strong and heartfelt opinions who like the opportunity to express them, the average member of the British public ignores this completely and takes the view that these people should do as they are told and follow orders just like soldiers. They expect iron party discipline and when they don’t see it they regard that party as an disorganised rabble unfit for government.
Paradoxically this (Tory Brexiteers joining UKIP) would be good for the Tories and good for British democracy. It would in fact be a WIN out of a series of LOSSES!
This is because it would give UKIP a prominence it rightfully deserves.
Those readers of this organ who are members of UKIP will recall the UKIP National Conference held at the ICC Birmingham on the 21st and 22nd September 2018. It got the briefest of mentions on the BBC News.
If UKIP were to have about three dozen MPs the Brussels Broadcasting Corporation would have to pay more attention to them. The other aspect is of course that Nigel Farage is no longer around. Were he still around, it would have been impossible for these Tories to find a hospitable home in UKIP.
