An open letter to the British People from The His Holiness, Pope Francis, Bishop of Rome.

My dear British friends!
Today is the Feast of Saint David – Patron Saint of Wales. It is therefore a good time for us to broach the subject of the forthcoming vote to leave or remain in the European Union.
The Head of Government of your country, the Right Honourable David Cameron, PC, MP, Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury has recommended that you vote in favour of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland remaining in the European Union.
The purpose of this communication is to ask that you follow this recommendation and that you should vote to REMAIN in the European Union.
Be under no doubt whatsoever of the Very Serious Consequences of taking the erroneous advice of such as Mr Nigel Farage were the British People to vote to leave the European Union.
Britain has a “Special Place” in Our Heart. It is Our Earnest Wish that the British People vote to remain in the European family of Nations of which the European Union is the constitutional and institutional embodiment.
We would remind you all of our shared Christian heritage and in that period before the division between the Protestant churches and Rome, Europe shared a common heritage and a common institution, the Church of Rome.
We appreciate the historical significance that the Treaty establishing what is now the European Union, is the Treaty of Rome.
It is therefore with hope that we look forward to the day known as Midsummer’s Day in England – and the Feast of St, John the Baptist to us on Friday 24th June 2016 when we look forward to receiving the news that the British People have followed the recommendation of Mr David Cameron.
May God bless you all.
Pope Francis.
