In Newtonian mechanics, linear momentum, translational momentum, or simply momentum is the product of the mass and velocity of an object, represented in the equation, viz: p = mv
For those wanting to brush up on their schoolroom physics, GOTO: http://www.physicsclassroom.com/Class/momentum/u4l1a.cfm
In politics, the situation is similar. Political success is a function of momentum, defined in terms of the mass of popular opinion for a cause, party or politician and the velocity of the change of events.
There is a Guardian report that Brexiteers should take note of. GOTO: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jul/01/poll-european-eu-rights-brexit?utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=GU+Today+main+NEW+H+categories&utm_term=233216&subid=15907465&CMP=EMCNEWEML6619I2
There is also another Guardian report that Tory MPs should take fright at! The tag line of the British Gazette is: Speaking the Truth unto the Nation. This was obviously paraphrasing the Bullshit Broadcasting Corporation’s motto, “Nation shall speak peace unto Nation”.
This is a very good motto for the BBC as it is clearly complete bullshit! Nations DO NOT speak truth unto each other. They say whatever they deem to be in their best interests. Any similarity with the truth is purely coincidental!
However, the British Gazette has sought to comply with it’s own tag line and has spoken the truth unto the nation – where or not the nation wants to hear it or agrees with it!
Thus it has been the case that the British Gazette has consistently supported Doctor Richard North and others Brexit approach: Flexcit.
GOTO: http://eureferendum.com/
As events unfold demonstrating the correctness of Dr North’s approach we, and we take no pleasure at this, except the compensating satisfaction of being able to say, “I told you so!”
The sad FACT is that Brexit – as UKIP would define it – is simply NOT going to happen. For these reasons:
1. It is impossible! Nigel Farage may be able to win a referendum employing the degree of terminological inexactitude approaching – but not reaching that of some of Comrade Corbyn’s supporters in the recent general election. NB: We are NOT calling Mr Farage or other UKIP members liars because we accept that they sincerely believe their statements as factual and therefore truthful. Whereas some of Comrade Corbyn’s supporters deliberately and maliciously concocted reports that were complete fabrications.
2. Despite the vast tranche of sovereign power that successive UK governments have transferred to the competence of the European Union, the country is still a democracy. This means that governments who crash the economy and bring about an economic and logistical chaos that results in a slump of gigantic proportions get voted out of office! Where such chaos is averted by a transitional arrangement that is so publicly demonstrated to be disadvantageous [to the UK] that spinning it otherwise would defeat the resources of the late and unlamented Herr Paul Joseph Goebbels und der Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda (The Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda) would fail utterly!
The fate of whatever government is in power during this Brexit process is best described by Private James Frazer of Walmington-on-Sea’s Home Guard! Viz:Those Tories of a Machiavellian trait (Most of them? – Ed.) would, if they want to see their party prosper would be well advised to manoeuvre proceedings in Parliament to bring about a defeat of the government on a No Confidence Motion and to bring about another general election that would place Comrade Corbyn into 10 Downing Street.
This of course would present the now Unfortunate Corbyn with a classic NO WIN scenario!
The ONLY ways in which he could avert economic disaster would be:
1. Abandon the so-called “Hard Brexit” and to go for a “Soft Brexit” aka Flexcit – which the Tories (safely ensconced in opposition) would declare was going back on what people voted for. OR:
2. Abort (with EU agreement) Brexit altogether.
The FACT is that the UK’s position is VERY VERY SERIOUS!
IF the Tories persist in pursuing the lunacy of the “Hard Brexit” then ONE of THREE outcomes is inevitable. Being:
1. The chaos of a train crash Brexit. Which of course will result in them being thrown out of office! OR:
2. The dreaded Transitional Arrangement in which Article 50 takes effect and the UK LEAVES the EU but the provisions of Treaty of Lisbon shall continue to apply by virtue of a UK Act of Parliament to that effect which can be terminated by a Statutory Instrument – this the sole prerogative of the Crown. Thus the Transitional Arrangement will be a treaty (deposited at the UN) between the EU – that will be ratified by all 27 EU member states that will RECOGNISE the legality of the UK’s enabling Act. This is an arrangement for which the British Gazette has borrowed a term from the Roman Catholics: Purgatory!
The DANGER inherent in the Transitional Arrangement lies in the FACT that the UK will have LEFT the EU! What this means is this: That should a UK government decide that the way out of this is to rejoin the EU then the provisions of the EU Treaties apply! This means that the UK would have top be treated as a NEW member! This means that the UK would have to join the Eurozone on entry!
WHEN (NB: Not “IF”) the UK finds itself in the Transitional Arrangement it’s ONLY hope of retaining it’s Sovereignty is to seek to renegotiate the whole deal to enter EFTA and then rejoin the EEA. Legal Note: Under the transitional arrangement, the UK will have left the EU and the EEA. It will be in the EEA only by dint of the EU Treaties being extended to accommodate this.
Here is a FACT: ANY government in office during this period is going to be punished by the electorate!
