Above, fish and chips in High Wycombe!
Today, the estimable Dr. North serves up another well researched and authoritative commentary (http://eureferendum.com/blogview.aspx?blogno=86629) which essentially is repeating the same thing for the umpteenth time! That the ONLY practical Brexit strategy is Flexcit, aka the “Norway option” aka “EEA+EFTA”.
More – much more – importantly than the procrastination and prevarication being indulged in the sorry excuse for what is supposedly, Her Majesty’s Government, we have two disasters looming upon the horizon, not to mention a political crisis (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/oct/08/catalonia-spain-prime-minister-refuses-rule-out-suspending-autonomy) in one of the member states of the European Union, namely Spain.
Yesterday’s Guardian reported that President Trump tweeted, “only one thing will work” and that “Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years, agreements made and massive amounts of money paid,” then, “Hasn’t worked, agreements violated before the ink was dry, making fools of US negotiators. Sorry, but only one thing will work!”
The inference is obvious and deeply worrying. The Guardian went on to report: Later on Saturday, Trump spoke to reporters at the White House before he left for a fund-raiser in South Carolina. Asked to clarify his cryptic “calm before the storm” remark earlier this week, which was made to reporters ushered into a dinner with military leaders, he said: “Nothing to clarify.”

Were this situation NOT serious enough there is more. The Guardian further reports upon the tensions between the President and the Secretary of State.

Then there is more. Today the Guardian reports upon the looming disaster for public – and individual health – vis-à-vis the increasing and very dangerous problem of antibiotic resistance.

Some may suggest that we appear to be heading towards the arrival of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: [Nuclear] War (Korea), Pestilence (antibiotic resistance), Famine (take your pick) and Death.
The Christian apocalyptic vision is that the Four Horsemen are to set a divine apocalypse upon the world as harbingers of the Last Judgement.
In yesterday’s article (http://www.british-gazette.co.uk/2017/10/07/troubles-like-buses-come-in-threes/) we drew comparisons with the Brexit crisis now and the [Irish] Home Rule crisis of 1914.
We would suggest that if Spain heads towards an internal crisis and nuclear war breaks out on the Korean peninsular then the UK government will have a “once in a blue moon chance” of resetting the terms of the Brexit process.
As Jean-Claude Juncker has said: “We all know what to do, we just don’t know how to get re-elected after we’ve done it.”
