Above, TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales in the Valentine’s Day photograph Kensington Palace has released – as per the BBC report (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjmgkyw7yvo).
“Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated” is a famous, oft-misquoted line attributed to Mark Twain, typically used to humorously refute false rumours of one’s demise. The actual quote, sent from London to a reporter in 1897, was, “The report of my death was an exaggeration”.
There is no doubt that the scandal that can be described as “international” which is “the Epstein Files” portends the downfall (and likely loss of liberty) to many of the world’s rich and powerful who, “never in a million years” imagined that they might one day be visited by police officer and subsequently arrested and taken into custody in order to “help the police with their enquiries!”
Of these, a potential arrestee is the Extremely Unfortunate Mr Mountbatten-Windsor. Because of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s not so little “local difficulties”, many on the political fringes (the left and the right) have busily constructed a bandwagon which they are both enthusiastically jumping upon! The name of this metaphorical construction being “The End of Britain’s Monarchy”.
Allow me to disabuse these unlikely bedfellows of the chances of their success: There is more chance of Mrs Melania Trump collecting an Oscar for her performance in her recently released “docu-movie” that there is of a Presidential Election taking place in the United Kingdom following the end of the monarchy.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor may be able to console himself with that the chances of his extradition to the USA are remote whilst Mrs Trump’s husband still occupies the White House. However: It is a NOT unlikely prospect that Mr Mountbatten-Windsor will at some point receive that knock on the door and will be asked to accompany a police officer to a police station in order to “help the police with their enquiries!”
“Oh woe is He!”
