Pope Francis I: A man who has experience of stating the blindingly obvious.

Above is a photograph of the new Pope – an Argentinean – meeting his President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner as Cardinal Archbishop of Buenos Aires.
Along with David Cameron and William Hague, it is unlikely that the former Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, is near the top of President Fernández de Kirchner’s Christmas card list. This is because the Cardinal did what any proper Christian cleric – of any denomination – would have done when President Fernández de Kirchner embarked upon legislating for “same sex marriage” or as the politically correct now wish to call it, “equal marriage.” Cardinal Bergoglio took the lady to task and stated in no uncertain terms that marriage was an institution that required the participation of two people: one man and one woman. And that it has been so since the beginning of time. Cardinal Bergoglio duly received much chastisement from Argentina’s politically correct as a result. This is no bad thing as it demonstrates that the new Pope appears to be prepared to speak plainly and take the wrath of the politically correct brigade on the chin.
NB: Unlike our satirical article of 12th February; “Can some Prophet please inform the Editor of the seven winning numbers of the Euromillions lottery for any Tuesday or Friday? The Editor needs the money!!!” we are not going to comment on continuing nonsensical “end of the world” claims.
The British Gazette would hope that the new Pope in any future meeting with President Fernández de Kirchner would seek to state another blinding obvious fact: That politicians who call themselves democrats do not ignore the wishes of the voters.
That the people of the Falkland Islands have voted overwhelmingly in favour of remaining a UK overseas territory. That of 1,517 votes cast in the two-day referendum – on a turnout of more than 90% – 1,513 were in favour, while just three votes were against. That there was a turnout of more than 90% from 1,672 British citizens eligible to vote in a population of about 2,900.
Some Argentineans seem to beginning to be getting the message. Carolina Barros, editor of the Buenos Aires Herald, said the referendum result was “quite a blow and big news for any Argentine saying that the Malvinas islands belong to Argentina, or that the islanders living there are an implanted population.” I don’t think it’s going to change the mind of the government.” It might change the mind of the Argentines. Most of the Argentines think that the territory, the land, belongs to the Argentine map. But most of the Argentines, I think, think that the islanders are entitled to believe or feel themselves like the true inhabitants of the islands after almost nine generations.”
We live in hope.

Please note that the Islas Malvinas are located south of Puerto Sánchez in the General Carrera Lake, Aisén Region of Chile. Their Coordinates are 46.62° South and 72.53° West and not, 51°41′ South 59°10′ West. These latter co-ordinates relate to the Falkland Islands which are sovereign British territory and will remain so until the people living there decide otherwise.
Please examine this photograph of the Islas Malvinas below. As you can see they are islands in a lake and not the South Atlantic. It is clearly a very beautiful region of your continent. It is unlikely that the government of Chile would be prepared to cede these islands to you.
