No Sex Please: We're Green!!!!!!

“No Sex Please, We’re British” was a 1973 British comedy film directed by Cliff Owen and starring Ronnie Corbett, Ian Ogilvy, Susan Penhaligon and Arthur Lowe. It was based on the 1971 play “No Sex Please, We’re British” with a number of changes to the original plot.
Today, the Tory supporting Daily Telegraph (aka Daily Torygraph) is cock-a-hoop at discovering the Green Party’s views on de-criminalising prostitution, class A and B drugs and other things. They think it will be a gift to the parties with the conventional line on these issues.

They are of course right – from an electoral viewpoint. Expect UKIP to fall into line with conventional thinking.

British Gazette comment: The Edtior has some bad news for Nigel Farage and his chums in UKIP HQ. The British Gazette’s attitude on prostitution is nearer – BUT NOT THE SAME AS – the Green Party than UKIP.
The Greens support full de-criminalsation and as far as this organ can discover, licensing of brothels by local authorities. This of course demonstrates the colossal naïvety at the heart of this and so many of the Greens policies. It is a naïvety of such proportions that there is a peculiarly perverse elegance to it! You see it should be obvious to any sentient creature with more than two properly functioning brain cells that there is a flaw in the Green’s plan:
They want to license brothels to make it safe for prostitutes to ply their trade. As a result, prospective brothel keepers will have to apply to the local authority for a licence!
Err………….. You mean the same local authorities that are refusing to allow lap dancing clubs in their bailiwicks?

It is clearly obvious what will happen were the Greens ever to form a government and to enact this policy:
Brothel keepers realising that their chances of getting a local authority to issue a licence are somewhat less than the leader of ISIS being invited to the Prime Minister of Israel’s nephew’s Bar Mitzvah will not waste their time applying. Their brothels will be set up and should there whereabouts become a nuisance they will be closed down – due to violation of planning laws.
The Brothel Keepers will be very happy with this for trading in premises without planning permission is a criminal offence but not one subject to the draconian POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act) so after paying a fine they can go and set up elsewhere.
