Above is John Hemming Liberal Democrat MP for Birmingham Yardley. Mr Hemming is reported to have invoked Parliamentary Privilege by naming a certain person who had previously obtained an injunction preventing the reporting of certain allegations surrounding their private life.
Mr Hemming it appears is a deeply confused man. He is not alone, as many of his fellow MPs including David Cameron, our so called Prime Minister are suggesting that it is parliament that should make the law and not the judges.
As well as being confused, Mr Hemming’s views are in total contradiction as he and his Europhile colleagues supported the formal hand over of the government of this country to the European Union under the Lisbon Treaty.
As stated in our previous articles, the judge in granting the injunction that Mr Hemming has seen fit to breach is interpreting the European Convention on Human Rights. Because the UK is treaty bound to abide by the convention, the European Convention is raised in precedence to the level of European Law and as such takes precedence over English Law. Thus, when the High Court judge issued the injunction to enforce the plaintiff’s rights of privacy that have been granted to them as a citizen of the European Union under the Lisbon Treaty, Parliamentary Privilege should not really apply as parliamnetary privelege cannot place parliament above European Union Law, only English Law.
The British Gazette suggests that the plaintiff seek to enforce contempt proceedings against Mr Hemming. After all, Mr Hemming can hardly complain as he and his party have long been enthusiastic supporters of handing ever more power of governance to the EU.
Of course Mr Hemming is now complaining loudly now moaning about the traditions of Corps Juris displacing English Common Law.
Then why did this idiot vote to ratify the Lisbon Treaty? Once again, the British Gazette asks: If you hand the government of the country over to a foreign power, what do you expect?
