Invective escalation: Male Chauvinist! Sexist Man! Misogynist!

The above image is NOT that of the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury!

The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE, Archbishop of Canterbury says that she is committed to speaking out about misogyny where she sees it (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c7v0948vm9go).

Well, if by that she means unfair and unkind treatment – and worse – of women, I concur!

However, I’ve come to the conclusion that certain attitudes and actions that we blokes did years ago have had the consequences (to us blokes, today) escalate considerably.

Take for instance, smiling – and I do NOT mean leering lasciviously – at an attractive Lycra clad young woman out jogging can get one cautioned or even arrested by the police!

Due to a congenital flaw in my DNA, I am unable to whistle. This inability means that I cannot be arrested for “wolf whistling” for the simple reason, I can’t – wolf whistle that is!

Dame Sarah has certainly climbed the nursing and then the ecclesiastical pole most successfully (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Mullally).

Given the pace of Dame Sarah’s career, I will not be one bit surprised if the King’s Birthday Honours which will be announced this summer in June 2026 will see Dame Sarah advanced from 2nd class British Empire (DBE [Dame Commander]) to 1st class British Empire (GBE [Dame Grand Cross])!

BTW, I do NOT have a problem with women priests; my late mother was a Methodist local preacher.
