The above picture of a self absorbed self centred young woman with a fragile personality sums up the constituency “Scowler” Sturgeon (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgn2gyx9vdo) is speaking to.
For the start, I fully accept that there are some people, who for whatever reason believe that they are in the “wrong” body; that instead of being a man or a woman, they are a woman or a man. Physiologically, they are fully of one gender, but feel at their core and at the deepest level they are in fact of the other gender.
OK, I accept that. But let is face FACTS: As human beings, the vast majority of us have aliments or one kind or another. I very much doubt that there is one human being on the planet who can honestly state that at no time in their life they have not contracted some form of disease, infection or illness at some point in their lives!
Some of us are very, very lucky and we only suffer from minor diseases, infections or illnesses throughout our lives. Sadly and tragically, many suffer from major diseases, infections or illnesses throughout their lives, lives that can be ended early via this.
There is a person of my acquaintance who has cancer. It is late and serious. Their prognosis is NOT good! There is a person just a year or so younger than me who has a whole catalogue of ailments and who has been in hospital many times. I make mention of both of these people as I am always so impressed by their cheerfulness and positivity of spirit.
For myself, from 1955 to 2013 I enjoyed very good health. My experience of the NHS was always that of a visitor (to persons in hospital) or as a driver (driving other people to visit persons in hospital). I had the shock of my entire life in March 2013 when I for the very first time in my life was taken by emergency ambulance to hospital and life saving treatment and to walk out of that hospital on my own two feet WITHOUT an invoice for the medical services that were provided!
So my message to all persons who believe that they are in the “wrong” body; but they are in fact of the other gender is this: Grin and bear it: There’s always someone worse off than you!
