Above, a visual portrayal of the sinking of the RMS Titanic.
To quote from the Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titanic): “RMS Titanic was a British passenger and mail carrying ocean liner, operated by the White Star Line, that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on 15 April 1912 as a result of striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England, to New York City, United States. Of the estimated 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, about 1,500 died, making it the deadliest sinking of a single ship up to that time. The disaster drew public attention, spurred major changes in maritime safety regulations, and inspired many artistic works.”
This maritime tragedy has attracted attention in one way or an other since then. Today in Belfast where the ship was built, we have a dedicated museum: https://www.titanicbelfast.com/.
The FACT is that the tragedy was entirely avoidable and could have been averted or if not different decisions made that would have resulted in far fewer casualties.
Which brings us to the title, Gone West!
You see, there appears now to be another tragedy of Titanic proportions unfolding of an entirely different nature which will (should it happen) significantly affect the UK economically. This is the decision of Shell PLC to relocate to New York from London and to re-domicile in the USA as a US company.
Herewith a couple of links:
Should this happen, Shell will be followed by other companies that are viewed by the Climate Change Brigade as unacceptable.
The effect on the City of London and some of the companies there would be catastrophic.
The FACT is that “the City” that is so reviled by the British Left is the Goose that lays the Golden Egg for the UK economy. Back in the day when the country had a manufacturing industry to speak of the loss of “the City” would have been a disaster. Now, with the manufacturing “offshored” to China it would be catastrophic.
Sadly, I fear that only a series of events such as this linked with the continuance of what in the UK is called the “First Past the Post” system and what in the USA is called the “Two Party” system and what your editor calls “Disproportional Representation” will bring about the necessary changes!
You see, it is only when the colossal failings come about as a result of the catastrophic policy decisions made by the establishment “mainstream parties” and of course endorsed by the “mainstream media” led by the British Balderdash Commissariat will the mass of the populace be so adversely affected that they will be prepared to support, en mass, a radical alternative.
This alternative of course will be given the labels “Far Right” and “Climate Change Deniers”!
The radical change will NOT be brought about peacefully!
We have a generation of youngsters brought up on the notion that CO2 is a big problem and is threatening life on Planet Earth! These youngsters (and many not so young) will be driven to despair and the protests of “Just Stop Oil” and “Extinction Rebellion” will turn violent.
We are going to have civil disorder, riots and terrorist attacks on the scale of Northern Ireland during “the Troubles”.
