Mrs. Frances Inglis lost her appeal against her murder conviction today when the Court of Appeal ruled that ‘mercy killing is murder.’
The British Gazette agrees. Describing the case “one of the most difficult sentencing decisions faced in this court,” the Lords Justices of Appeal reduced her tariff from 9 to 5 years.
British Gazette comment: Whilst agreeing with the decision of the verdict, the British Gazette feels that the court should have moved further on the tariff. This was an exceptional case and for this lady to serve more than 3 years will not serve the interests of justice.
