Difficult decisions are the privilege of rank!

Above is Miss Carla Denyer, Co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales.

Miss Denyer along with he colleague, Mr Adrian Ramsay has a difficult set of decisions to make.

These are an outcome of her party’s electoral success in Gipton & Harehills ward in Leeds where their candidate now, Councillor Mothin Ali was elected (https://leeds.greenparty.org.uk/home/candidate-mothin-ali/).

I know the area very well.

I would hazard a guess that for Councillor Ali, the bright green rosette he wore during the campaign was of great comfort for him. This because for whilst Miss Denyer whose belief in a god is “open to question” and the colour represents her environmental concerns, for Councillor Ali the colour represents his faith.

Many Muslims – who are politically interested – have traditionally joined and voted for Labour. The present conflict in Gaza has altered this. Many are standing as independents and many are joining forces with Mr George Galloway.

It is my belief that many Muslims will begin to look towards the Green Party for a political home. The Greens are a much smaller party than Labour and this will give Muslims a greater influence.
