Disruptions to the public order, so major that they constitute serious criminal offences, have occurred ever since (and before) the blood or charcoal based ink was dry on the papyrus or parchment scroll of the original gospels.
The serious disturbance to the settled order at Gatwick airport has been a particularly 21st Century phenomenon. The travel plans of thousands of people were disrupted and ruined at the time of year when many travel to visit friends and loved ones.

This organ is not going to speculate about the motives of the culprit or culprits. Instead we will comment upon what to do to prevent any such future occurrence.
The first thing to state is that more money has to be spent as some new kit needs to be acquired by the authorities to physically stop any such future occurrence.
The second thing to state is that a proper registration/licensing regime needs to be introduced to ensure that ALL drone operators must be required to apply for a licence to own and operate a drone which means that they will have to undergo training and possess comprehensive, all risks insurance for themselves and their drones.
The third thing to state is that the costs of the above must be met by the licence and/or registration fee/s on the owner and/or drone. This of course will meet with a howl of protest from the many thousands of people (mainly boys and men) who will find that their new toy now comes with a whole lot more aggro’ and costs!
These new laws and regulations will assist the authorities deal with the numerous individuals who feel the need to offer a prison delivery service to the inmates of same! This because mere possession of an unregistered drone without a licence and without insurance will constitute not one but three criminal offences!
