Above, Gustave Moreau’s Hercules and the Hydra of Lerna.
The myth of the Hydra of Lerna serves as a effective analogy of Israel’s position vis-à-vis it’s enemies on it’s borders.
The many headed Hydra additionally possessed poisonous breath and blood so virulent that even its scent was deadly. The monster’s many heads were replicable: for every head chopped off, the Hydra would regrow two heads!
It is this capacity of replication which lies at the root of this intractable situation. The IDF’s suppression of Hamas in Gaza has killed many terrorist fighters and has destroyed much materiel. Hamas’s callous and ruthlessly cynical strategy of maximising the collateral damage and civilian causalities has proved highly successful in causing Western politicians to demand a ceasefire.
Of course, the power that lies behind Hamas and the other groups is Iran. IF there was “regime change” in Iran and the new regime did not support these groups the threat would be lessened – but not eliminated.
There is much talk about a “two state solution”. Those who promote this idea imagine a state of Israel within the 1948 boundaries and the West Bank territory and the Gaza strip an independent Palestinian state and a peace agreement that would ensure the two independent sovereign states would have peaceable relations.
People who believe this are likely to believe in Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy. But then we have a crop of Wokeists who are unable to answer the question: Can a woman possess male genitalia?
Hamas in it’s public statements have repeatedly made it clear that they seek a one state solution: that the above mentioned territories be united as one sovereign state and that state should be an Islamic state governed by them.
Israel is clearly not going to agree to this!
Reflecting upon this intractability those on the side of Hamas will likely conclude that they have time and demographics on their side. That the nations of Belgium, France, Germany and Great Britain have rapidly changing demographics that are resulting in a decline of the number of Christians and an increase in the numbers of Muslims.
Insofar as Great Britain is concerned, change is inevitable and change is happening now. There will come a point in the not too far distant future where the numbers of Muslims exceed the numbers of Christians. Not only that but the numbers will be made more pertinent by the fact that the percentage of nominal Christians (the “hatches, matches and dispatches” variety) will be far greater than the percentage of nominal Muslims, with most Muslims being regular attenders of their local mosque.
It is a FACT that the power and influence of a particular religion is directly linked with it’s adherence amongst the general population. In previous centuries – such as the 17th Century – adherence to the Christian faith was far stronger and widespread than it is today. This is in stark contrast to the adherence and levels of regular mosque attendance by the Muslim community.
Today the importance of Church of England clergy especially the bishops and archbishops is much reduced when compared with previous centuries. Post reformation, the influence and power of the Church of England reinforced the power of the monarch who was it’s Supreme Governor. Of course, the bishops and archbishops still have their seats in the House of Lords and to that extent still wield power and influence.
Many will have pondered what will transpire when the predominately Sunni Muslim population forms the largest cultural and faith community in Great Britain.
There is a possibility (given this situation could come about in 2050 – 26 years away) the situation could in fact result in a change of state religion: That the place of the Church of England will be taken by Sunni Islam and that the seats of the bishops and archbishops will be taken by Imams, a Grand Imam and a Grand Mufti.
Of course, this begs the question: What about the British monarchy?
Well it seems King Charles III and his sons William and Harry are descendants of Muhammad.

I will make no further comment or speculation!
The wording of the Balfour Declaration handing over part of this land, that was then I believe, still part of the Ottoman Empire, states quite clearly that “it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of the non-Jewish communities in Palestine”, where did it all go so horribly wrong?
