Command to the Maybot: “Klaatu barada nikto!”

Just before 11PM last night, I posted the following comical comment on the EU Referendum blog:
“That chap outside Parliament bawling “Stoooop Breeexit!” is getting on my wick! If he really does want to stop it, how about this: Go up to the Maybot and having established eye contact shout, “Klaatu barada nikto!” instead!
Simples!”
Joking aside however, upon reflection the 1951 Sci-Fi classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still” which stared Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal makes a relevant commentary on the present Brexit débâcle. The film portrayed the parochial, self absorbed nature of human politics which meant that Klaatu – a visitor from an advanced alien civilisation – did not receive the audience before world leaders.
The fictional stupidity displayed by the US authorities in the film is fully duplicated in the form of the actual stupidity displayed by the UK’s politicians in the House of Commons. It is a case of Fact following Fiction!
