Above, TRHs the Duke & Duchess of Sussex with the Earl of Dumbarton front and centre.
This is the time of year when folk look back and look forward.
Well, it’s been quite a year hasn’t it folks!
The proverb “May you live in interesting times” will be in many folks minds, although it’s connection to China (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_you_live_in_interesting_times) appears tenuous to say the least.
The BG has chosen to reproduce TRHs Christmas card as Lord Dumbarton (born 6th May 2019) can be said to be one representation the future. Let us face it, in earlier decades the marriage would not have taken place and Lord Dumbarton would not have been born. The fact of the matter is this; times change and people have to change with them. If they don’t they will tend to be regarded as anachronistic.
There is another proverb that readers should bear in mind; “The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there.” Of course, this serves eloquently to illustrate a problem; many who seek the past try and get there. And bring trouble upon themselves and others as a result.
It is easy to make a superficial analysis and assume that a direction of travel on a particular issue will continue. It is not only in the area of politics and sociology that people make this error. It is a very common (and costly) error investors make in assuming a trend (either up or down) in a share/stock price will continue.
Remember this?And the “swinging sixties”?
Remember the “Miss World” contest appearing on TV?
It still does.
But outside Europe!
Perhaps the best way to illustrate what we mean is with this image:To those who remember the original “Star Trek” this is Lieutenant Uhura. The image serves as an excellent example of how “Sci-Fi” dramas continually (and deliberately – for commercial reasons) project the mores and customs of the time (of their audience) into a fictional future where only the technology changes.
Consequently, present day “Sci-Fi” will tend to project today’s (Western/1st World) mores and social structure into a future.
Thus it is assumed (by the script writers employed by the Balderdash Broadcasting Co-operative) that today’s liberal diversity culture will continue to advance and propser.
They could not be more wrong!
To examine why, these idiots should really first ascertain the driver of social change. Here are two images to assist them. We enter the world here:And exit here:This is unavoidable!
The other driver is demographics.
The PC Brigade at the Balderdash Broadcasting Co-operative are constantly stressing how the UK of today is a diverse society. This is true. What is also true is that different communities numbers are changing. Some are increasing. Some are decreasing. Thus, over time the make-up of the country will change. Radically. This in turn will have changes in mores and culture and other aspects.
It is now said (by the medical profession and statisticians) that a child (born to affluent parents) in 2019 can expect to live to the age of 90. In other words, Lord Dumbarton can expect to live into the twenty second century and celebrate his 90th birthday on 6th May 2109.
Don’t assume that those attending his birthday party will be able to toast the old gentleman with a “wee dram”.
Legally at any rate!
