OK, there is a certain level of mendaciousness in most politicians!
But with Donald Trump it is OTT!
One of the biggest failings a political activist can make is the practice of regarding the [political] enemy of your [political] enemy can be your [political] friend.
Many of those Britons who are constantly defamed by the Woke Left and Liberal establishment regard Donald Trump as a great man. That he likes the UK. Well, that last statement may well hold water. After all, we do know that Joseph Biden had scant regard for the UK.
There was great joy amongst many of those the Woke Left and Liberal establishment label, the “Far Right” at the recent spectacle of Mr Trump humiliating “Stasi Starmer” on the world stage.
Many chortle at the obsequious ingratiation “Two Tier Keir” feels compelled to observe when in the presence of Mr Trump.
Be under no doubt: IF Mr Trump were NOT the President of the United States of America but instead was the Prime Minister of New Zealand he would receive VERY different treatment from “Comrade Starmer”! And deservedly so! But Mr Trump is NOT the Prime Minister of New Zealand! He IS the President of the United States of America! And that FACT makes ALL the difference!
It is the greatest misfortune that Mr Trump’s second term of office is occurring during the Russia-Ukraine war. There are however a couple of positive outcomes of this:
Mr Trump’s abrasive roughness demanding that European NATO members spend more on defence, combined with his “flaky” attitude towards US NATO membership has concentrated the minds of European politicians tremendously! To paraphrase Dr. Johnson: “The prospect of being invaded within a decade concentrates a European politician’s mind wonderfully!”
So, maybe some good has come from the wayward decision of the American electorate of November 2024!
Of course, many Americans who have a deservedly LOW opinion of “Comrade Keir” will have chortled in amusement at the PM’s humiliation at the hands of Mr Trump. They might assume that the actions of Mr Trump will not have an adverse effect on the USA.
They are SO wrong!
You see, the USA has very important relations with Japan and South Korea. The politicians in these Far Eastern states will have taken note of Mr Trump’s actions and they will have taken steps (in terms of future plans regarding future meetings with by Mr Trump) these plans being further enhanced from the plans they made following President Zelensky’s first meeting with Mr Trump in the Oval Office.
This because of loss of face. Be under NO doubt: Had Mr Trump had subjected the Prime Minister of Japan or the President of South Korea to such humiliation the consequences for the USA would have been immensely severe!
Be under NO doubt: The professional diplomats at the State Department in Washington DC are fully cognisant of this!
The symbol of the Republican Party is the elephant. With Mr Trump there is an excellent opportunity to paraphrase an old saying: “An elephant in a department store!”
We await the results of Mr Trump’s meeting with President Zelensky……
