Madame’s trips to Berlin and Paris today will achieve little. It will of course irritate intensely the heads of government of the other 25 member states Madame is NOT visiting. The EU Commission and the EU Council asked for “a plan” from the UK to be submitted to the EU Commission yesterday in order that “the plan” could be copied and circulated to the EU27 so they could discuss it tomorrow. They received no such plan. Madame will turn up in Brussels tomorrow and ask for an extension until Sunday 30th June 2019 and announce that she has moved the order for the EuroParl elections in the UK.
Her trips today and the activities on MPs are in fact displacement activity.

The ball is clearly in the EU’s court.
The smart money is on a long extension.
But that is NOT a racing certainty.
This organ’s speculation about no extension being given could occur. Nothing is certain now.
All we can do now is to wait and see.
