Dear Bishop/archbishop,
You may have gleaned from the press that it‘s all over, bar the shouting, for the the “Climate Change” enthusiasts.
The University of East Anglia is unlikely to recover its reputation for many years to come, if ever. The leaking of the emails has painfully exposed how the CRU/Hadley “top” scientists, such as Dr Phil Jones and Dr Keith Briffa, have colluded, for the last two decades at least, with GISS and the IPCC to falsify the temperature records for alarmist purposes.
The desperate claims that “they have to be seen in context” would be funny if it were not so desperately serious. The context is 100% clear – I have read them. If the CRU are innocent, then President Nixon was innocent.
This is scientific fraud on a massive scale.
If it were merely an academic fraud (like the Piltdown man) it would, I suppose, be of little consequence, but this has cost ordinary taxpayers in the West many billions of dollars, ruined landscapes, destroyed livelihoods, probably cost the lives of many hundreds of thousands in the third world, and indoctrinated a whole generation of children and students in our schools and colleges with pseudoscience.
This makes the MPs’expenses scandal look like a storm in a teacup. It‘s the fraud of the century if not the millennium. As one very senior economist now retired from the Civil Service said to me, “This is fraud on a cosmic scale.”
A lot of people are going to be very angry indeed.
Churches and charities (such as Christian Aid and TearFund) who have promoted it are going to have to explain themselves when clear warnings had been given to them for so long.
Now would be a very good time for the Church to say “sorry” and change tack; the longer we leave it the worse it will look (and be).
God is not mocked.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
Yours,
Philip Foster
