Of oil rich countries like Iraq the cynics have often said (correctly) that if they grew carrots the USA (and its allies) would not be interested. Well according to the news report on the link at the bottom of this article it is clear now why the USA was so keen to topple Saddam Hussein and to put a friendly regime in place.
At least the grieving loved ones of those British servicemen (and women) now know what their sons, daughters, husbands, wives, girlfriends, brothers and sisters died for.
