Finding a stone thrower……………………..

Above, there are lots of stones here! Chesil Beach (also known as Chesil Bank) the major shingle beach structure beside Weymouth.

John 8:7 So when they continued asking him, He lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

It is a well known verse. When Christ posed this challenge, His naysayers knew that He had asked the impossible! There was not one person in Israel who could meet this requirement. And of course, had their search had been extended to the entire planet, they still would not have found anyone.

A similar predicament with attach itself to the hypothetical scenario now being postulated by some on the UK’s political scene where the scandal that surrounds the man known now as Mr Mountbatten-Windsor spreads across the Royal family and leads to the establishment of the United Republic of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

You see, the political and constitutional establishment will see to it that what replaces the British monarchy is a directly elected ceremonial presidency along the lines of that in the Republic of Ireland.

Sadly – for the unfortunate candidates – the level of scrutiny and dirt digging before, during and after the Presidential election will be vastly greater than any carried out by Irish journalists and political activists on their candidates.

This because there will be many Britons who will look towards the ex-Royals as those they would have liked to see in the role of head of state.

IF this sad situation comes about we know of course the type of people who will be selected as the candidates. They will have to meet as many of the requirements of the DEI enthusiasts as it is humanly possible to have in one person. To that end I can even imagine that the political and constitutional establishment will see to it that we have the needless scenario (that will render the UR as unique) in having twin candidate “tickets” of a presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate but for a ceremonial and not an executive presidency! This because the political and constitutional establishment will want to see that the widest spread of characteristics is represented in the candidates to adequately express as much as the DEI enthusiasts can cobble together!

It is often said that a ceremonial presidency is a plumb job for a senior public figure because it carries high status and low workload! A ceremonial vice presidency would be a case of slightly lower status and an even lower workload!

Were it ever to come about, I would rather like to apply as a vice presidential candidate myself, but as I hopelessly fail (by a vast margin) to meet the requirements set by the DEI enthusiasts, there is absolutely no point in planning my campaign!

PS: In addition, I clearly do NOT meet the requirements stipulated by the Lord!
