I remember Wednesday 21st October 2009 – Trafalgar Day.
On that day I uploaded the first BG post!
On that day the author Louise Cooper (29th May, 1952) died of a brain haemorrhage at the age of 57 (https://www.louisecooper.com/).
Politically, we had Prime Minister’s Questions with Gordon Brown at the dispatch box (https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm200809/cmhansrd/cm091021/debtext/91021-0002.htm#09102134000011).
I do not know the political views of the late Louise Cooper. I do know the views of Gordon Brown!
However, I am wildly confident that Gordon Brown and Louise Cooper (had she lived) would AGREE with me that the World has changed in ways we had not anticipated!
In 2009, I was one of the many who were campaigning for the UK to leave the European Union. At the time, I saw NO realistic prospect of Brexit! Brexit officially took place at 23:00 GMT on Friday 31 January 2020 (00:00 Saturday 1 February 2020 CET).
I did not anticipate that beginning a brutal war of attrition being fought in Eastern Europe with military casualties on the scale of the Great War! As we all know, on Monday 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, starting the largest and deadliest war in Europe since World War II, in a major escalation of the war between the two countries that began in 2014.
I did not anticipate the advent of “Artificial Intelligence” and quantum computers.
I did expect technological development but not at the pace we are now seeing!
Most of all though, I did NOT expect that there was a possible alien space craft (asteroid ship) in a solar conjunction with the Earth on this day!
As the Chinese would doubtless say: We are living in interesting times!
