Today is the Friday 1st October 2021. Eleven years, eleven months and eleven days ago (including the end date) on Wednesday 21st October 2009, the British Gazette blog was launched into cyberspace! On that day there was one BG blog. Today there are two.
How good is that!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first BG blog was launched on a historic day: Trafalgar Day. This is a day when the Royal Navy celebrates Admiral Lord Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar and commemorates the death of one of the United Kingdoms national heros.
Today, the second blog has been launched on another historic day, albeit a much lesser know day. This was because on 1st October 1688, Prince William of Orange accepted Parliament’s invitation of take up the British crown thus ensuring the Protestant Succession and with it the beginnings of a Constitutional Monarchy and the gradual establishment of Democracy.
The reasons for the two blogs are several but the following will be of interest to the BG’s readers:
The BG had been blocked by a couple of internet service providers in the UK. We were alerted to this when an acquaintance contacted us and informed us that they could not access the blog.
The decision was made that the blog would be set up outside the UK in the USA in such a way as to allow us to take advantage of this (https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-1/).
The decision was also made to keep the original blog in existence but in such a way as to post content that would not annoy and find favour with the politically correct! This of course is an exercise in sarcasm!
It also enables me to keep the .co.uk email address. This was and is important as we REFUSE to be inconvenienced by the VEO (Very Easily Offended)!
Whilst the new .com blog is now operational, it is still a “Work-in-Progress” as certain technical alterations have still to be made. This will include setting up a .com email address and security enhancements.
